The girls are good. Olivia's been busy in the backyard watching her bird house because there are baby birds in it. It fell out of the tree, but Andre was able to get it back up there and the mama went back to it, so that's good. Victoria is bent out of shape because no mamas decided to make a nest in her house this year. They are also liking the new table that we stained and put their handprints on. White's Unfinished Furniture had the cutest kids size picnic table, so I had to buy it. I took me awhile to get it stained and then the girls put their handprints on the top and then I put a clear coat on top. It's super cute!

Counting Down
Andre is leaving for the arming course in about a week--he as to be up in Olympia on the 2nd for equipment and then in Shelton on the 3rd to start the course. We've been shopping for him...it's like boot camp all over again (6 white, 100% cotton t-shirts; 6 white pairs of socks; 6 black pairs of socks....etc). He's got more boot polish than I thought a person could use in a lifetime, but he assures me that he's going to need it. We had to shop at the evil empire today because I couldn't find the brass polish he wanted @ Target, but I don't think I was looking in the right spot. We also got his shower shoes there (fancy word for black flip-flops), and he was annoyed b/c they are $.89 at Fort Lewis...the evil empire sells them for $2. Not exactly going to break the bank.

And the hits just keep on coming...
Andre has been moved into the WSP arming course; he has to report on June 2, I think. This is a good thing--we don't have to worry about where he is going to live, etc. b/c he'll be at the academy in Shelton. We're also hoping that he might end up getting through the entire process a little faster, but we'll see what happens. He could very easily have to do the trooper cadet thing between the arming course and the trooper basic academy.

I'm a winner
I've improved...win percentage for spider solitare is now 14%. YES!
Went to a meeting tonight at school (with students) and took the girls. They were pretty good, especially since they got to go check out our baby ducks and turtle, etc.
Andre's first day on the job is June 4...right around the corner!

Foks can feel a little safer now...hahaha
My DH (that's dear husband for those of you who weren't aware) has been offered a position with the Washington State Patrol. The position is as an unarmed cadet and he will be working in downtown Seattle. This position pretty much guarantees that some day (hopefully sooner rather than later) he will be given a slot in the arming course and then in the State Patrol Academy. So it's a good thing! The sooner option is that could potentially slide into a spot in the arming course that starts in June. That would happen if someone who is already enrolled in the course has to drop out. The later option is that he would start the arming course in November, I think. The downside to all of this is that he will have to live on the West side until further notice...probably for the next year, if we're being realistic. So that will be a drag. But, overall, I am very happy for my DH and know that he is going to be great at this job and that he's going to love it!!!

D U M game (or it is me??)
Is anyone else out there bent on playing a game in which you appear to have no chance to beat? I mean, really, my win percentage is 13%. For you math wizards out there, that means I LOSE over 3/4 of the time or 87% of the time. I tell you, I have an illness. In case you are wondering what the game is...yeah, it's spider solitare. Standard in the games on your PC. I do just fine (100% win rate, in fact) with only one suit of cards, but you up that to two suits and I pretty much suck. And, like I said before...I'm a little obsessed, I think. Maybe that's because I stink and want to get better. Practice does not seem to be helping me, though. I'm sure that you are all thinking about all of the better games available to play online, etc., but now that I'm obsessed with improving my spider solitare skills, I don't think I'll be able to quit. The 13% of time that I do actually win, though, is very gratifying--the game shoots off fireworks in celebration. Not sure if this is a standard thing or something that's reserved for people who lose most of the time and they just want us to feel better and keep playing.
...and for those of you who noticed the misspelled word in the subject; for the record, I do know that dumB is the correct spelling. I use the DUM with Kami @ work (and my students) when I'm in a mood. It is so much more fun to spell it out, and incorrectly at that, than it is to say the word. I'm not sure why.
