It has been so long since I last posted anything!!! I guess I've been pretty busy since school started. Let's see...to catch up...
O & V started back at St. Joes for daycare and preschool. They still love it, so we do, too. This year, they are still in the same preschool class, but Olivia was moved into the "Mighty Mustangs" room at daycare and Victoria is still a "Little Joe." They separate the kids into age groups. We think this has been good for them. Victoria is such a big girl all the time and wants to help Miss Karen with everything since she is one of the oldest kids in the room. And Olivia is happy to be with kids that are older. So, it's been going well.
Andre is in his 9th week of the academy (or something like that). I'd be lying if I said that it isn't getting old, fast. However, all is going well and he'll be home for 8 weeks beginning in November, then he'll graduate. No word on a final placement or anything. But he does get his very own car sometime in the next few weeks, so that's exciting for him.
Work is busy for me, as always. I am enjoying it, but wishing that my home life would stay simple!!! Let me take a moment to say that I DO NOT RECOMMEND SAL'S GARDENING OF KENNEWICK, WA, for any type of lawn care work at your home. In the course of four weeks, they broke three sprinkler heads and caused two floods in my basement. The first flood was small and I didn't realize it was caused by them until after I had dealt with it, but the second flood (last Tuesday) flooded our basement family room area. Good times. I had to go through my homeowners insurance to get it fixed because Sal's does not think it is their fault. Not sure of their logic...bastards (sorry...I'm seriously worked up)...but it is just so ironic because I hired them to SAVE time, not to cause me grief. As I type this, I have approximately 10 fans and a dehumidifier running downstairs trying to dry things out. I'm hoping that we'll have new carpet pad and vinyl installed next week and be done with this. I do plan to send the folks at Sal's a very strongly worded letter.
My flood is really not a big deal, though, when I consider how fortunate I am compared to some. We have dear friends (Jessica & family and Ryan) who live in Beaumont, TX. Hurricane Ike blasted through there. Jessica and all are well, they evacuated early on, but we haven't heard a word from Ryan, who is a firefighter and probably did not evacuate. We're just guessing b/c he didn't evac during Katrina...anyhow, he's probably just fine, but still.
I also learned this week that one of my childhood friends was found dead about three weeks ago. His mom and mine are good friends; his mom was just able this week to bring herself to call my mom to let her know. I can't imagine the depth of their sorrow or how you move past losing a child. He was young, too, 25. He and his sister, Melissa, and Jen and I, used to play together all the time before we moved from California. We have the funniest dress up pictures of the four of us in their attic with Warren dressed up as a girl. ....I am done writing about this...
I've started working on the girls' Halloween costumes. They are going to be pirates. At first they were not excited because they thought that meant they had to wear pants, but once I told them that girl pirates can wear skirts, they were totally down. I'll post a picture when I get them done.
Take care everyone!!!
